# Do I have to buy precious metals every month?

**No, there is no requirement to make monthly purchases.**

You can continue to hold your precious metals with Veracash without making any additional purchases. In this case, the standard storage fee of 0.15% per year applies, provided your account remains subject to the standard storage fee system.

Monthly purchases are only required if you wish to qualify for the reduced rate of 0.10% per year.  
However, please note that after 12 months without any transactions on your account, the oxidation mechanism replaces the standard storage fees.
